PROJECT HABITAT: A DWELLING
07.2021
A small home that sits on the edge of a stormwater pond facing the scenic space. The structure works to mimic the surrounding site, blending into the charming forest atmosphere while maintaining a sense of rigidity.

SCENERY & SERENITY
Inspired by a personal hobby of landscape painting and my day to night routine, this small habitat reflects the split environment that compliments my routine. The design incorporates elements of painting such as canvas framing and organic lines, combined with integrating the steps of my living habits. The bridge acts to connect the spaces to solidify the seamlessness of living day to day. The curved windows and walls contrast with the primarily boxy shape to create a working relationship between the idea of fluidity within structure. The building uses wood and neutral tones to accentuate the trees that surround the site and frame the buildings.
The two buildings connected by a bridge guides the morning routine. From getting up from bed, to heading downstairs to the washroom, then to head to the kitchen on the other side to cook and eat. After, the small office space can be used to do work or the larger studio can be used to paint. The entire building has reflective windows to allow for a view of the scenery from inside as well as the view of the night sky when sleeping. The window also allows for more natural light, especially through the roof and the curved walls. The bridge provides a scenic view after waking up and heading to the kitchen or from coming back from eating.
